Verdigris Design Studio
Enduring Architecture. Practical Expertise.
About the Principal
Rooted in how buildings are actually built.
Verdigris Design Studio is the practice of a single architect who has spent a career on all sides of the drawing set — designing, building, and inspecting buildings of all shapes, sizes, and functions. That broad perspective shapes everything the studio produces: architecture that is beautiful on paper and sound in the field.
Before founding the studio, Sean Barrett worked briefly on hospitality projects internationally before transitioning to a Boston-based design-build firm where he gained invaluable knowledge about historic preservation and the realities of construction. Currently Sean serves as the principle of Verdigris Design Studio, as well as the President of a small construction company, Verdigris and Villarreal, and as the Assistant Building Commissioner in the Town of Randolph, MA. That background means designs arrive at the permitting desk ready to go, and that the designs are developed and conveyed with real construction in mind.
The result is a practical, refined approach. Projects are chosen selectively and seen through personally, with an emphasis on craftsmanship, longevity, and respect for the New England vernacular that surrounds them.
